Chapter 3: Suspicious Suspects

The Bullpen wasn’t as busy as it had been that morning. The clock had just passed 1 pm as you walk through the door, marching straight to your desk. Upon sitting, you start ripping pages of your notebook out, placing them around you. It doesn’t take long, but soon enough everything is laid out correctly.

With a few questions in mind, you begin to search through the resources you have access to. You discover a few things. One being that Ellie Taylor signed in at 8:56, 15 minutes before you arrived at the scene. Her whereabouts beforehand are unknown since she lives alone and is single. She also was already close to the school when the body was called in.

​

You then start to flick through Wishwell’s statements from the other members of staff that he had spoken to. He had already typed them all up. You should really start to do that yourself. As you read through his statements, you keep seeing references to in-person evidence that he had catalogued. Maybe you should take a look at it all.

Behind you, you hear footsteps approaching.

 

“Bell,” Wishwell’s gruff voice calls. “You doing alright?” You turn slightly to see the man approaching you, holding another mug of coffee in his hand.

 

“Yeah, Inspector,” you say. “I was just sorting through my—”

 

“I've got the pictures printed and my statements typed up.” Wishwell stops behind you. “Chief wants this done quickly, let’s go.”

 

“I will do, sir,” you say, eyes returning to your laid-out evidence. “I've just got to…” You trail off.

 

“To what, Bell?”

 

You sigh and look back at Wishwell, only for Ellie to enter the Bullpen behind him. She doesn’t notice you.
