Favourite Place

What I want in a favourite place. I want trees. Blossoming, green trees that stretch high into the sky, creating long shadows that allow couples to sit under and hold hands together as the days pass. Trees whose branches sit low across the floor, allowing children to climb them and see the world from a bird’s perspective. I want a stream. A beautiful, glistening stripe of aqua blue that glides and meanders through the land, and at the end, a lake. A lake that expands the further out it goes, creating a home for the wildlife around it. I want people walking, discussing their lives, how they will pay for one of their mother’s healthcare, where their son will go after they finish school. Where they want to be buried. I want birds to fly, I want fish to swim. I want the world to be busy and peaceful. I want noise and silence.

But it doesn’t matter where my favourite place is. It could be my bedroom, my garden. The pub down the road or the local corner shop. My favourite place is anywhere, as long as I'm there, standing next to you.
