Chapter 2: Bloody Back to School

“How well did you know Mr Rodwell,” you ask, flicking your notebook open.

Ellie shook her head firmly. “Not that well, if I'm honest. My sister only got married to him a few months ago, but before that I had only seen him a few times.”

“They’ve been together long?”

“Two and a half years,” she answers. “Married for a year.”

“Anything about their relationship of note? An argument? An affair of any kind?”

Ellie scoffs and rolls her eyes. “An affair? No, Claire is better than that. My sister is a good woman and a good wife. She isn’t capable of that kind of thing.” She took a deep breath. Calmer, she continued. “Besides, we haven’t spoken in weeks. So if something happened between her, I wouldn’t know.”

Slowly, you note down her words, nodding as you do. “Well, Officer Taylor,” you say, “thank you. I probably have to get back to the station, I suggest you do the same.”

“Yes, Inspector Bell,” Ellie mutters. You smile at her and turn away, re-joining Wishwell before the two of you head back to the station with the evidence.
